Proof God Has a Sense of Humor

Mon Jan 26 2009 17:59:26 ET

Al Gore is scheduled before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday morning to once again testify on the 'urgent need' to combat global warming.

But Mother Nature seems ready to freeze the proceedings. A 'Winter Storm Watch' has been posted for the nation's capitol and there is a potential for significant snow... sleet... or ice accumulations.

"I can't imagine the Democrats would want to showcase Mr. Gore and his new findings on global warming as a winter storm rages outside," a Republican lawmaker emailed the DRUDGE REPORT. "And if the ice really piles up, it will not be safe to travel."

A spokesman for Sen. John Kerry, who chairs the committee, was not immediately available to comment on contingency plans.

Global warming advocates have suggested this year's wild winter spells are proof of climate change.

Believe it or not...more ENGAGEMENT pictures!

I totally forgot about these engagement shots we had done in Colorado! The photographer sent us a CD but it was right in the midst of wedding plans so I didn't give it much thought. Plus I was really hoping for more snow but although it was FREEZING, we were there a few weeks before the snow hits. So I'll have to wait until our next visit to get my snow angel shots...and something tells me I'll be the only one in those shots anyway!

Here, Josh is contemplating why he let me drag him on yet another engagement picture shoot and thinking how he'd rather be in front of the fireplace with a glass of wine.

It was easy for the photographer to tell us to ditch our coats. Do not let the no snow on the ground fool you. It was COLD!Thawing out!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Since I was on my honeymoon for my birthday, I had a delayed birthday dinner with friends this past Sunday night. (I have no idea why we didn't get a group pic!)

We ate at Wild Ginger in Cool Springs and I enjoyed hanging out with some of my best buds. Thanks to my friends and Josh for making this birthday my best ever! I can already tell that the holidays and other important days and events in my life will be much more special with Josh by my side.

Time flies!

It doesn't seem like 2 weeks have already passed since Josh and I got married! Time flies when you're having fun I guess! For those of you who do not know, Josh and I met by chance in Memphis, TN at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in 2006. Come to find out, we lived in the same subdivision in Franklin and he knew both of my sisters. It was just so ironic that we met 3 hours away from our houses which are so close I could see his house from my patio. He got my phone number that night and called a few times but I was never interested in meeting up with him. But he was persistant and we soon started going to different political events together. The more time I spent with Josh, the more I realized what a wonderful person he was and it didn't take me too long to start realizing that I needed to give him a shot. I feel like I fell in love with Josh so soon after we became friends. I just couldn't help but fall in love with him. He was independant and very reluctant to commit but even he says now that he loved me long before we even started officially dating. Anyway, I saw this quote last night I thought it fit our relationship perfectly and is exactly how I feel about Josh.

Meeting you was fate, becoming your friend was a choice, but falling in love with you I had no control over.

Happy 2 week anniversary Josh! You've made me the happiest girl in the world and I am so excited I get to spend the rest of my life with you and look forward to many more years of fun times together. You truly are my best friend, my mentor and my confidant and you make me feel more loved than I ever thought possible.

My Hubby, The Diva (quick update for you Lori!)

So we arrived safe and sound in San Juan Puerto Rico a few days ago! But I will have to say that our first day here was not so smooth. Josh Brown, who I now affectionately refer to as my husband...also has a new name. J. Bro. (not to be confused with J. Lo). My new hubby you see is a bit of a diva.

After our arrival to our hotel, the Hilton Caribe, Josh and I were shown three rooms...and Josh was not happy with any of them. So they told him there would be another suite opening up the next day they would move us to...but Josh started calling around to other places in case that suite didn't meet his approval either. He was pretty frustrated so we decided to leave and hit the casino. I also thought it was best for our safety to get away from the hotel employees who had been trying to accommodate us.

So we went down to the lobby to grab a taxi to the casino and things were really buzzing. Ironically enough, Puerto Rico inaugurated the 1st Republican Governor in 40 years the day we arrived which is a really big deal. Security was everywhere when we tried to leave because the newly elected Governor was staying at our hotel, along with the President of the Domican Republican, the Governor of the Virgin Islands and other highly elected officials. I however was most excited to hear that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony were staying here. And a charter bus carrying the Harlem Globetrotters pulled up as we were leaving too and they were checking in!

I just thought it was hilarious that Josh had been trying to find openings at other hotels all day when all these people were staying at our hotel. We did get moved to an awesome suite on our 2nd day and all is now well! But who knew J. Bro was more of a diva than J. Lo?

We had a couple's massage on the beach yesterday and a wonderful dinner at Lemongrass last night. Tonight we have reservations at Morton's. So lots of good dinners and wine! We've also had tons of success at the casinos...knock on wood. We are WAY up...in fact, as of last night, we are getting paid to be here! So hopefully that success will continue on! I haven't won as much as Josh but I am also a much more conservative gambler than he is so won't lose as much either if our luck turns.

I did catch Josh reading this today and asked if he was preparing himself for marriage. HA!

So we are thankful for a wonderful wedding but enjoying spending time with each other without the stress of wedding plans.

Can't wait to see everyone when we get back! I'm sure I'll have wedding pictures by the time we get home.
